This was originally made to commemorate Enos, Nasa's chimpanzee astronaut from 1961. Original approval sketch created using Adobe Illustrator. Once I started official design, hand painted a 40" aluminum round with acrylic paints. I filled the background with plain gears, as not to take away from the detail of the aluminum. Then I hand-painted Enos in a NASA suit using acrylic paints.
